Features links to all kinds of information on shuttle flights, the International space station, & other planned manned flights. Includes sections on space history, space news, a gallery of images, audio & video clips, and a feature on the exploration of Mars. Provides real time data when appropriate.
Apollo 13, We Have a Solution
This detailed 2005 article describes how saving the Apollo 13 spaceship, which was launched on April 11, 1970, and returned to earth on April 17, 1970, after a forced cancellation of its lunar mission, was the result of years of preparation, not a hurried improvisation. Includes background about the spacecraft, technical problems, and the important role of prior emergency simulations. Provides a comprehensive source for facts and information about NASA’s Apollo lunar exploration missions. Includes audio & video clips.
Virtual Space Museum - Russia
Provides limited information and lots of photographs of the Russian Space program. Categories include: manned flight, planetary probes, cancelled projects, and miscellaneous. Includes timelines, models, and links to related sites.
The Planetary Society
The society encourages the exploration of our solar system and the search for extraterrestrial life on other solar systems. Their site provides access to publications and related links that support their aims. Also provides current headline news about planetary explorations.
British Astronomical Association
This is an extensive site with lots of images and information in astronomy, our solar system and its planets. Some digging is required and site is not overly attractive but scrolling down to the Observer sections will lead to a wide variety of information and photographs.
European Space Agency
Provides information on the European Space Agency and its programs. Includes information and photographs on each of their past and ongoing missions and projects, plus general information on astronomy and space. Information is archived back to 1995. Searchable.
