Features information on each of the planets of the solar system, plus other astronomical topics. Topics covered for each planet include exploration, the surface, interior, and satellites. Very visual, so high speed access is a definite plus. Uses hyperlinks to lead to additional information.

Build a Solar System
This interactive site automatically calculates the sizes of, and distances between, the planets when the size of the sun is typed in. Suggests the use of a roll of toilet paper to make the model. Links to related sites.

Provides links to information on the solar system, planets, space travel, exploration, and missions, distant stars, etc. Provides background information, facts, images and teacher resources.
Cornell Math & Science Gateway - Astronomy
Features up to the minute news, as well as annotated links to information on the solar system and space flight.
Solar System Simulator
This simulator site was originally designed to visualize deep-space satellite missions and provides realistic images of the planets and their moons. Planets can be viewed from any other spot in the solar system, including space probes.
Space Kids - Space science for kids
Provides a tour of the solar system, information about space probes, etc. Includes links to space science news, interactive lessons, and resources for teachers.
Solar system Exploration Home Page

The Solar System
This multimedia site is intended for students in Grades 6-8, though it can be expanded. Features sections on the sun, the planets, the moon, the asteroid belt, meteoroids & coments. Includes activities and a link to a second level for more advanced students and those interested in learning more.
Cosmos 4 Kids
Features a virtual tour, but can also be searched using the site map. Provides instructional units organized by Universe, Galaxies, Stars, Solar system, and Exploration.
Windows to the Universe
This multilevel space encyclopedia features information on our planet, the solar system, the universe, myths, space missions, people in science and special data. Includes teacher resources.
