McMath Library Mission Statement
The primary purpose of the McMath Library is to support the philosophy, programs, and educational objectives of Robert A. McMath Secondary School. The Library serves as an extension of the classroom, providing services, materials, and facilities which support and enrich the curriculum while enabling the users to develop into independent learners.
The teacher-librarian empowers students to be independent learners, ensuring that they are effective users of ideas and information by teaching meaningful information and technology skills that can be fully integrated with the regular classroom curriculum.
The teacher-librarian cooperates with other teachers to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students and of whole classes.
The teacher-librarian is responsible for information management and so provides a wide range of services, relevant resources, technologies, and information literacy instruction to satisfy the varied curruculum needs of its users.
The teacher-librarian promotes a reading culture through resources for recreational reading and enjoyment, reading advocacy and reading guidance.
