Provides over 14000 articles from the Concise Columbia Encyclopedia. Can be browsed alphabetically or searched. Features over 170000 links and hyperlinks. Note: It links automatically to the Electric Library page which is a pay service and may frustrate with information that cannot be accessed without paying.
Encyclozine: An encyclopedia & portal for sciences & humanities
Features a graphic intensive site that presents information in the arts, humanities, sciences, and technology. Each general area has subcategories to help with navigation. The index presents all topics in alphabetical order. Searchable.
Catholic Encyclopedia
Provides a basic, general encyclopedia from Catholic perspective that can be browsed alphabetically or searched by keyword. Includes excellent information on the missionary explorers of Canada and the rest of North and South America. Also useful for the study of comparative religions in Social Studies.

Dictionary of Canadian Biography- English/French
This first phase presents persons who died between the years 1000 and 1930 or whose last known date of activity falls within these years. Provides a much easier access to the published biographies and the information.

Includes national anthems, flags, maps of nations of world, weather and news stories from around the world.
Encyclopedia of 1848 Revolutions
Features valuable resource for studying upheaval in 19th Century Europe. The Table of Contents is in alphabetical order and allows easy access to the reference sources. Content is quite scholarly and thus appropriate only for senior students.
Encyclopedia of British History, 1500-1950
An outstanding resource that offers extensive information on the Industrial Revolution in Britain, plus other features of the time period.
USA Encyclopedia, 1840-1980
Provides a British perspective on the history of the United States. Includes slave accounts, information on World War I, trade unions, McCarthyism, Roosevelt & the New Deal, Civil Rights movement, etc.
Encyclopedia Mythica
An encyclopedia of mythology, folklore and legend from many cultures. Organized by various topics covering cultures or time periods (e.g. Chinese mythology, Native American mythology, Hindu mythology, Arthurian legend, etc.) Features more than 5700 definitions of gods and goddesses from many religions, supernatural beings, legendary creatures and monsters from around the world. African Music Encyclopedia
Can be browsed by name of African musician or by country. Includes a glossary of musical terms and related links. Searchable.
On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences
This searchable database gives detailed identification of integer sequences. Allows the user to type in a series of numbers and the database will complete the sequence and provide the name of the sequence, along with its mathematical formula, examples of its classificatory structure, references, and links.
Nature Serve, An online Encyclopedia of Life Science
This searchable site contains conservation status, taxonomic, life histories, ecological concerns, habitat, distribution information, etc. for over 50,000 plants, animals and ecological communities in the US and Canada. Includes a glossary and information for rare & endangered species.

This specialized encyclopedia about Islam presents a definite Sunni bias. The scholarly nature of this site makes it appropriate for senior courses only.
Judaism 101
Features an online encyclopedia about Judaism, covering Jewish beliefs, people, places, things, language, scripture, holidays, practices and customs. The Table of Contents and the onsite search engine provide quick access to over 60 web pages and 200 pages of text.
