CAREER TRANSITION
Career Programs encourage students to continue to pursue academic goals and to graduate. At the same time, they provide a smoother transition from school to work, and sometimes a quicker route to certification in a trade – and to the earning power that goes with it.
Career Programs include the Pre-Employment Program, Career Preparation Programs, School based, College based, and Workplace based apprenticeship programs. Apprenticeship programs offer dual credit.
Dual Credit: Yes, students will graduate with a Dogwood Certificate. The Ministry of Education now recognizes coursework done by secondary school students at a post-secondary institution. Students are entitled to earn "dual credit" if they earn credit that leads to a post-secondary credential from a post-secondary institution which is a member of the British Columbia Transfer System or offered in French through the auspices of Educacentre. That means that students in apprenticeship programs are earning credits towards secondary school graduation while at the same time earning credits from the post-secondary institution they are attending. Through dual credit programs, students make a faster and easier
transition to post-secondary study or the workplace.
