Garbage! : the revolution starts at home (Grades 4-12)
Where does garbage go after it gets thrown out? Supported by statistics, this humorous video investigates problems of waste disposal. Viewers will easily relate to an everyday family who collects and tracks their trash for three months. Important messages are underlined through multiple forms of presentation (verbal, print, and graphics), while the suggestions for change promote a deeper understanding. The DVD's questions and graphics provide opportunities for natural chunking. Though lengthy, the content is suitable for grades 4-12. The first sections of the movie could easily be used with younger children. Useful for launching/promoting school wide recycling environmental projects.

This DVD looks at human waste management and the use of waterless toilets and waterless urinals, and grey water recycling as alternatives to the traditional flushing toilet. The content is clearly introduced and developed as viewers are told the story of the development and implementation of the waterless toilet in Morocco and Tunisia. Narration and pacing are appropriate for the intended audience. This DVD is useful for prompting discussions of waste management and the impact of waste on the environment.
